Invitation from Multicultural Ministries Team: Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2022

January 03, 2022

In anticipation of recognizing the upcoming Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 17, 2022, the North Alabama Conference Multicultural Ministries team would like to invite all congregations of the North Alabama Conference to celebrate the day in concrete and creative ways as we commemorate the life and work of an American leader for change and transformation.

Some of the things churches can do to recognize and celebrate the day are:

  • cross cultural/cross racial pulpit swaps
  • local missions activity
  • worship services that include speech(es) from Dr. King
  • cross racial/cross cultural prayer vigils
  • unity marches
  • recognition of local civil rights (s)heroes
  • scholarship presentation
  • and small group discussions.

Above all, whatever is done, the hope is that it will continue beyond the holiday so that our church and community becomes the change and transformation that we want to see.

In the Cause of Peace, Equality, and Justice,
