Message from Bishop Wallace-Padgett: General Conference Update

Dear Friends,

The days have been long and the nights short here at General Conference in Portland, Oregon.  That is understandable as we have many matters before us to consider.  As you would expect, your delegation is representing you well during this 10 day meeting.

Perhaps you have been watching some of the General Conference proceedings.  There have not been any dull moments!

During General Conference we have had highs and lows, tears and laughter and harmonious as well as difficult experiences.  Through it all, I have been reminded that God is in charge and our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

You can read about specifics of General Conference actions at and find daily updates from North Alabama at Feel free to contact your District Superintendent or a General Conference delegate or alternate if you have questions.  Delegates and alternates present at General Conference are:

Steve Lyles
Rev. Robin Scott
Scott Selman
Rev. Dale Cohen
Zac Riddle
Rev. Mary Bendall Henley
Carol Toney
Rev. T. K. Kufarimai
Pat Meadows
Rev. Glenn Conner
Emily Chastain
Rev. Robert Sparkman

Thanks for your prayers and encouragement throughout the 10 days of General Conference.  Please particularly pray that God will give all participants wisdom, strength and grace beyond our own in the remaining days of General Conference.  As always, it is a privilege to serve as your bishop.

Debra Wallace-Padgett
Resident Bishop
North Alabama Conference
