Office of Ordained Ministry staff dedicated to discovering, developing and deploying clergy spiritual leaders
The North Alabama Conference Board of Ordained Ministry lives out the Conference mission to discover, develop and deploy spiritual leaders to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world through its work of credentialing, training, and providing life-long learning opportunities for clergy in the North Alabama Conference.
The work of the Board is supported by dedicated staff members in the Office of Ordained Ministry. Over the last couple of years the faces in the office have changed, but their commitment and diligent work to develop and support clergy spiritual leaders remains constant.
Rev. Ron Schultz was appointed as Executive Director of Ordained Ministry in June 2015. Ron leads the work of Ordained Ministry with innovation and thoughtful leadership. Rev. Dr. Sheri Ferguson serves as Ministry Health Coordinator. She is certified to administer, interpret and provide analysis for the MMPI and Emotional Intelligence testing for clergy candidates. She provides Pastoral Care Specialist training and conflict resolution training for congregations and clergy groups. She also is facilitating a clergy holistic health pilot group. Mike O’Kelley is Administrative Assistant and Finance. Mike coordinates the administrative work of the Board of Ordained Ministry and pursues grants and gifts to expand the ministry of resourcing clergy. He also provides financial analysis, coaching, and training for both clergy and congregations. Mike also serves as the part-time Executive Director of The Gathering Place Church, a new, fast-growing, multi-campus United Methodist congregation in the Cheaha District. Laura Belding is the newest face in the office. She serves as Support Staff and Administration. Laura efficiently wears two hats as she also serves as the Administrative Assistant for Church Health. Cindi Patsios, who served as the Administrative Assistant for Ordained Ministry for 18 years retired in the fall of 2016. Regina Ergle, who also served as part of the Ordained Ministry staff, has transitioned to a full-time focus with the Office of Superannuate Homes, which is administered by the United Methodist Foundation.
