A Pre-Retirement Seminar for Clergy and Spouses will be held Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, at Trinity UMC in Birmingham (1400 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, AL 35209). The event is sponsored by the Boards of Pensions, Ordained Ministry and Superannuate Homes.
The purpose of the seminar is to provide ministers and spouses with information as they plan for the years of retirement from the itinerant ministry. Resources will be presented by The General Board of Pension and Health Benefits, Social Security, Superannuate Homes and our Conference Benefits Coordinator.
While the planning committee is directing this event to clergy and spouses aged fifty-five and above, that does not preclude clergy and spouses of a younger age from attending.
The cost of registration is $15 per person or $30 per couple. This fee helps to cover the expense of lunch and other related costs. By submitting an age at which the clergy might retire as part of the registration, a personal projection for his or her pension will be available at the seminar. All attendees need to pre-register by Thursday, October 12 to allow time for the Clergy Pension Projections to be prepared from the General Board of Pensions.
