The North Alabama Conference has designated Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019, as United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM) Awareness Sunday. This is an annual Special Sunday celebrated each fall. Each church is encouraged to take up a special offering that day to be used by the annual conference volunteer in mission program.
You are also encouraged to provide UMVIM displays, information resources, solicit individual or group testimonies, and/or develop other ways to celebrate UMVIM that best suit your congregation.
To assist your church in planning for UMVIM Awareness Sunday, United Methodist Volunteers in Mission, Southeastern Jurisdiction offers downloadable resources to print and distribute to your church. Those resources are available at http://umvim.org/resources/awareness_sunday.html.
Rev. Todd Owen is the new UMVIM Coordinator for the North Alabama Conference. Todd has led youth teams to Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference, to Galveston Texas, for hurricane relief and to our own Urban Ministry in Birmingham, as well as Upper Sand Mountain Parish. He has also led nine adult teams through the years in various disaster recovery situations throughout the Southeast Jurisdiction. Additionally, Todd has led teams to Costa Rica and Honduras.
Whether you are looking to do local, regional or international missions with children, youth or adults, Todd can be a resource for your congregation. You may contact Todd at firstname.lastname@example.org.
