World Communion Sunday is October 6

September 30, 2019

World Communion Sunday celebration for 2019 is October 6 this year. United Methodist Communications has assembled resources to encourage and jumpstart your congregation's celebration. They include sermon starters, talking points, bulletin inserts, videos and other resources that will help educate your congregation on the importance of supporting this churchwide special Sunday with offering.

World Communion Sunday began in 1936 as a way to recognize our ecumenical oneness in Christ and to bring Christians together in a spirit of unity and peace. United Methodist Church congregations throughout the world will also receive a Special Sunday offering that helps students from around the world reach their full potential through scholarships and mentoring.

In The United Methodist Church, World Communion Sunday is one of six Special Sunday offerings. On the first Sunday in October, our designated gifts benefit students around the world by providing scholarships, mentoring and training.
