Safe Sanctuaries Annual Checkup
Safe Sanctuaries
As Christian communities of faith and United Methodist congregations, we pledge to conduct the ministry of the gospel in ways that assure the safety and spiritual growth of all children, youth, and vulnerable adults and those who minister to them.
Safe Sanctuaries is the North Alabama Conference's ministry for developing and implementing policies for the protection of children and vulnerable adults at the Conference and local church levels. This work is an essential part of our commitment as Christians and United Methodists to create safe and welcoming environments in our churches, particularly for the most vulnerable among us.
The work of Safe Sanctuaries is primarily carried out by trainers in every district who are trained and certified by the Conference. Trainers work with local churches at no cost to develop policies and train staff and volunteers on those policies. In addition, Conference staff are available to consult on Safe Sanctuaries-related questions and to help connect churches with additional resources for specific topics.
