Saint Junia is a diverse community of sinners, saints, and skeptics who join God in the renewal of all things. We aim to reach a difficult demographic—those who are “done” with church, or who have difficulty fitting in to most churches in Alabama. These folks are creative, dynamic, critical thinkers who still resonate with the message of Jesus, but their spiritual and discipleship needs don’t get met by worship styles that rely on attraction.
Over the last five months, we’ve transitioned to become a network of house churches. We went from one main worship gathering to two house churches that meet on Sunday morning and Sunday afternoon. This month (February 2016) we will add two more: one in Vestavia Hills and one in Helena. We are currently exploring new house church starts in Huntsville and Bessemer, and plan to experiment using Google Hangouts to allow worshiping groups in different locations to share liturgy, a message, and discussion.
Once a month, we still come together as a larger worshiping community. Our band plays a unique mix of original music and jazzy arrangements of traditional songs. We tend to gather in non-traditional spaces for these events, like pubs.
In December, our band released a short album of our original music. You can download it for free here: https://goo.gl/tQtLxu
